Long sheath technique for introduction of catheter tip manometer or endomyocardial bioptome into left or right heart.

A modification of Forman's technique is described using ultra-thin wall 'teflon' tubing as a disposable long sheath. By this method, solid constructed catheters and endomyocardial bioptomes can be passed across the atrial septum to the left ventricle without manipulation. The sheath can also be used as a modification of the Seldinger technique enabling introduction ofsimilar catheters to the left ventriclefrom the rightfemoral artery and to the right ventricle from the right femoral vein.
